Adam Gutman and Stefan van der Spek joined forces in 2014 because they saw a gap in the services available to boys in the neighborhoods in and around Cabarete. Their solution was to support the community by organizing an out-of-school learning program.
Adam brings 21 years of management experience to the organization. He has managed numerous teams and projects involved in handling property damage and third party liability insurance claims; was owner/operator of a temporary staffing agency and a concert/event promotions company. He has worked extensively on streamlining operational procedures to effectively and efficiently reach project objectives. He helped develop and has instructed training classes on claims management.
Adam holds a BA degree with concentration in Latin American Studies from the University of Florida, USA.
Adam has been visiting the Dominican Republic since 1994 and has lived in Cabarete since 2013.
Stefan brings 10 years of coaching and management experience to the organization. He is a licensed soccer coach with more than four years experience teaching youth in the Dominican Republic and in the USA. Stefan is the owner/operator of the International Soccer School Sosua in Sosua, Puerto Plata. He has owned/operated two businesses in Cabarete. He has a broad base of knowledge and experience in planning, logistics, organizing and leading.
Stefan has a business degree from Upstate South Carolina (USC), USA.
Stefan has lived in the Dominican Republic for the past seven years during which he has gained a comprehensive understanding of the local culture and has established enduring relationships with numerous members of the community.
Yann brings 8 years of management, teaching, sales, and marketing experience to the organization. Originally from France, Yann has studied and worked in France, England, Spain, Portugal, Argentina and Dominican Republic. Since 2012, he has worked with a well know and respected non-profit organization based in Cabarete, POP, Dominican Republic as an educator and project leader teaching life skills, critical thinking, career planning, and sexual education to youth. He has worked in multiple communities throughout the country developing life skills projects, working with local businesses, leading teams, and training nearly 600 young people. Yann is a high-energy leader with the ability to inspire others to grow and excel in life.
Yann holds a Master degree in Business and Marketing from the Institute of Grenoble, France. He is certificated trainer in Leadership and HIV/AIDS prevention. In addition to his native language he speaks Spanish and English.
Marlin began teaching in 2008 at a private school in Cabarete and later joined a non-profit organization where she taught reading and writing skills to children and managed Cabarete’s only public library where she developed reading activities for children and adults. Additionally, she has experience in early childhood education and organizing summer camps. Marlin is the Lead Teacher at InspireDR and is responsible for developing and managing parent/teacher relations and our monthly parent meeting.
Marlin began studying psychology at UTESA in Puerto Plata and is working towards her degree from UAPA University in Santiago.
Marlin was born in Bonao, Dominican Republic and came to live in Cabarete in 1999 with her parents and two brothers.
